National Account Manager

We are recruiting for a National Accounts Manager to join our client who are based in Canary Wharf. The successful candidate will cover an area between London and Manchester and will be responsible for managing the relationships and complex commercial negotiations of key Retail customers with multiple sites. Total responsibility for circa 250 branded sites nationwide across circa 12 accounts.
Responsibilities include negotiating complex contractual terms and managing the process from end to end, which would involve agreeing price structure, account set-up, line of credit and credit card facilities. The successful candidate would be accountable for renewals of current contracts within the existing portfolio in a timely manner. They would also be responsible for seeking out new business opportunities in terms of multi sites independent Dealers seeking a branded supply. Success will be measured by new business gains and retention rates of existing business.
There is a requirement for the individual to develop strong relationships at Board/ Decision maker level of assigned accounts and also work with operational personnel to resolve problems or issues that are encountered.
This position is a key member of the Retail Leadership team and will be expected to be involved in strategic projects as required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales account management and/or contract negotiation required.
Experience in the fuel/convenience store or grocery retail business arena preferred.
- Educated to degree level
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills and advanced skills in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Self-motivation to seek out new business opportunities
- Proven sales ability
- Ability to present to groups of people both internally and externally
- Ability to work in isolation and within a competitive sales team
- Skilled negotiator
